Athletes and Volunteers at the Five Star Trail Poke Ride

For the sixth year, Special Olympic athletes and volunteers have participated in the Five Star Trail Poke Ride, which raises money to help support the public use trail from Lynch Field in Greensburg to Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood.

While some of the athletes rode the twelve miles, others helped out by setting up and working two of the water stations.

Since 2000, Special Olympics Westmoreland County has offered cycling as a sport to both the athletes and their families.  Training is done two days a week, from May through August on the Five Star Trail.  The trail was founded and is maintained by volunteers and it is our obligation to help these volunteers who help us.
