TEAM Special Olympics serving the community.

For three years, a caravan carrying Special Olympics athletes and volunteers arrived at the Westmoreland County Food Bank.  As with Special Olympics, the food bank depends on volunteers to be able to provide their valuable service to the community.

Our first "job" for the morning was to break down cases of ice cream products and repackage them in smaller boxes for distribution.

After we finished that with great efficiency, we moved onto health and beauty items opening the original cases and loading new boxes.

The food bank staff said we repackaged over 20,000 pounds of food each year.

Who can grab the most cans without dropping one?

Brian, Lara and Tim take some time for laughs.

Brian, Lara and Tim take time to remember that "work" can be fun also.  Special Olympians do more than just compete in sports.  They prove to us all that they are an intergral part of the community.

The athletes and volunteers were able to learn what a valuable resource the food bank is and why it is important to the community.
